Burritos, Views, and a Dash of Fast & Furious

It's another glorious morning in Central Oregon. The sky is a brilliant blue, the birds are singing their hearts out, and the chipmunks are doing their chipmunk thing. It's the perfect setting for an adventure!

Remember that painting-like haze I mentioned? Yeah, this is it.

The Trailhead That Wasn't

Today's adventure started before we even hit the trailhead. We plugged the directions to Vista Butte into AllTrails, and as we got closer, we started to wonder if there was a mistake. The map showed us stopping at a random spot on the highway. No turnoff, no sign, just a spot. We kept driving, convinced we'd see something eventually.

Fast & Furious Parking

As the countdown got closer: 700 feet, 500 feet, 250 feet... still nothing. No parking lot, no signage, no fire road. Nada. Until, "You have reached your destination." At that moment, we saw the tiniest turnout ever, with a single car parked in front of what appeared to be a rarely-used trail. Instantly, Ty transports into the Fast & Furious, hits those brakes and masterfully slides my little Subaru into the turnout. The adventure before the adventure!

Ty might have the driving skills, but I've got the log-hopping moves. 😉 #FastAndFuriousForestEdition

Log Jam

Geared up and ready, we set off towards the butte, only to find the trail covered in downed trees. It was like an obstacle course on steroids. Thank goodness we weren't lugging our mountain bikes today!

Summit Views & Burrito Bliss

After hopping over what felt like a million logs, the trail smoothed out, and we cruised to the top. The view got more and more spectacular, showcasing Mt. Bachelor, the Sisters, Broken Top, and all the other beauties. The light haze from the smoke made the mountains look almost fake, like a painting. It was wild!

Reaching the summit, we claimed a log bench and unveiled our new favorite trail food: CHEESEBURGER BURRITOS (thanks to Stealth Health for the amazing recipe)!

Canine Cravings & Entrepreneurial Dreams

As a group of hikers approached, their dogs smelled our burritos before we even saw them. Instant best friends. Or so they tried to convince us. We cracked up at their sad pups (devastated at our refusal to share), as one of the hikers said, "That's so not cool. Now we have to go get burritos!"

Lunch with a view... people would pay for this! After briefly debating a potential mountaintop burrito business (ruled out because we'd eat them all), we started the trek back to the car.

As always, the downhill was a blur of laughter, breathtaking views, replays of Ty's Fast & Furious skills, and that pure joy of being outdoors.

Cheers to the good vibes!

Forget the Michelin stars, this is the real mountaintop dining experience. #BurritoGoals
